Curragh Workshop

STRUCTURAL / HYDRAULICS / VIRTUAL DESIGN / MINING AND RESOURCES

Curragh, Queensland Australia

We were tasked with the structural and hydraulic design for a heavy vehicle workshop for a mine site, without affecting the operations of the existing faclities. The workshop was made up of 4 new bays and a 40 tonne gantry, together with the expansion of the existing fuelling facility and expansion of the lubrication facilities.

An emphasis on safety, construction methodology and logistics all were critical to the design process, which was tailored to service the new ultra class Lieberer XXX trucks acquired to increase output of the mine.

Given the height of the structure standing at 21m to the eave, we explored several design alternatives to minimise fabrication costs, erection and handling on site and materials.

The project was successfully delivered ahead of time. Our team overcame some of the obstacles associated with remoteness and working on a mine site by exploring unconventional methods.
