The $7.2 million centre will be constructed on the existing Aquatic Centre site adjacent to the Olympic Pool. We were engaged by GHP Architects to provide a multi-disciplinary design including structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and ESD.

The new facility will include an indoor heated 25-metre eight lane pool, the covering of the existing toddlers’ pool, tiered seating for 200, a crèche, a new kiosk and outdoor café area, additional parking, new change rooms, a courtyard and upgraded entry.

The structural design solution included high strength galvanised cable as the bottom chord member to provide a light and visually attractive solution.

The design incorporates the latest innovations in co-generation and energy delivery via hybrid solar, heat pump and natural gas technology

Our approach complements the multi-layered polycarbonate roofing systems, enhancing the passive solar energy collected by the building. Waste heat is super condensed and able to be reused in heat delivery to pool water, slab heating and amenities pre-heating.
