Extended passenger dwell time, increased commercial revenue, and a welcoming entry point positioning Darwin at the centre of Australia’s north. All whilst maintaining uninterrupted operations throughout a live airport and military precinct.

We delivered seven interconnected infrastructure packages transforming Darwin International Airport into an integrated commercial precinct while maintaining continuous operations.
Entry Road Network Transformation reimagined the gateway experience. Complete spine road realignment, two modern roundabouts replacing seagull intersections, and strategic corridor rehabilitation created intuitive wayfinding whilst improving collision safety. The new link road seamlessly connects terminal, hotel and resort precincts, delivering enhanced safety, improved traffic flow during peaks, and future-ready infrastructure accommodating passenger growth.
Integrated Resort Civil Infrastructure provided the platform for sustainable precinct development. Our coordinated services planning (sewer, water, stormwater, LV/HV power, communications) enabled future expansion. Strategic bulk earthworks, pavement design and fire truck route planning for Novotel and Mercure facilities created complete destinations. This integration optimised lifecycle costs and enabled continued precinct growth.
RV Park Development demonstrated strategic value engineering. Through concept optimisation, we delivered 75 sites within a $2.22M budget. Our designs integrated flood modelling ensuring sites remain operational during peak seasons, with amenities withstanding cyclonic conditions. This created a new commercial revenue stream whilst maintaining visitor comfort.
Terminal Front of House Re-Development provided upgraded pedestrian access and tropical landscaping integrating adjacent resort facilities. Our grading considerations optimised construction efficiency, construction staging maintained passenger flow, and updated DDA access ensured inclusive design. The result: regulatory compliance, seamless passenger experience, and increased resort integration.
Terminal Parking Solutions maximised commercial yield and visitor experience. Complete Gurambai Trail carpark reinstatement, hire car facility relocation, and climate-responsive shaded zones increased capacity whilst maintaining fire access. We rearranged existing carparking achieving higher yield with efficient regrading, with every decision prioritising user comfort and safety compliance.
Terminal Upgrades – Retail Heart expanded passenger experience through retail revitalisation. Increased retail area with integrated slab extensions and new roof structure, streamlined airside access for staff, and construction staging maintaining service continuity. Our understanding of complex objectives delivered solutions leveraging existing structure coordinated with as-constructed information.
Wills and Wyuna Cold Stores Facility opened seamless freighting opportunities. The 6,250m² cold and dry storage development provided fit-for-purpose freight integration within the airport precinct.
Additional Asset Assistance included structural inspections with ultrasonic testing, corrosion investigations and detailed technical reporting. Strategic road network extensions (Cecil Cook Avenue, Larkin Avenue, Serco Villas carpark, airside access routes) delivered stormwater upgrades, scour protection and luxury villa access.
Our digital engineering integration utilised 3D modelling and point cloud data interpretation, coordinating to existing structures with accuracy and preventing on-site clashes. Advanced erosion control and sustainable stormwater engineering protected Rapid Creek’s sensitive environment whilst guiding material reuse decisions.
This was infrastructure delivery that transformed the Territory’s gateway whilst maintaining the rhythm of operations that never stop.
Operational Excellence
Maintaining continuous airport operations throughout $40M+ construction required meticulous coordination. Territory conditions shaped every engineering decision. Cyclonic wind loads informed structural design, seasonal wet conditions guided advanced erosion control, and extreme heat drove climate-responsive solutions like shaded parking zones. Our RV park amenities withstand cyclones whilst maintaining visitor comfort. This is engineering designed specifically for Darwin’s unique environmental conditions.
Digital Innovation
3D modelling and point cloud data interpretation enhanced stakeholder engagement and delivery confidence. We coordinated to existing structures with millimetre accuracy, preventing on-site clashes. Digital engineering enabled precise brownfield integration, optimised construction sequencing, and provided real-time visualisation supporting decision-making across complex operational environments.
